Der Kreisel - Eine interdisziplinäre Umdrehung Kafkas

Friday, September 27th 2024, 6pm at Künstlerhaus Vienna(Karlsplatz 5, 1010 Vienna)

One evening, one short story, countless perspectives.

A philosopher chases a spinning top and yet has to give up again and again with disappointment. He seeks the truth in movement, tries to grasp it in its development. His focus lies in the intangible, in the smallest things. For if the smallest detail was really recognized, then everything was recognized, which is why he was only concerned with the spinning top.*

We find the ever-searching philosopher in Franz Kafka's short story "The Spinning Top", where questions about knowledge, dimension and dynamics are posed. Is it possible to draw conclusions from the individual to the big picture? Can a snapshot create meaning for a longer period of time?

We ask ourselves these questions in the performance evening "Der Kreisel - Eine interdisziplinäre Umdrehung Kafkas". Together with three artists, we will spin through the Künstlerhaus and get to know three completely different perspectives.

Dancer Marina Rützler, puppeteer Katharina Halus and author Frieda Paris will guide you through the Neorenaissance architecture and the whimsical, mysterious and playful works of art in the Künstlerhaus exhibition Wunderkammer (28.06.-13.10.2024). The performances take up the short story in movement, narrative and structure and expand it many times over.

The evening will conclude with a discussion with the artists over drinks and the opportunity to creatively engage with the short story and the impressions of the evening.

Admission to the event is free. Please register at info@kulturmelange.com

The Künstlerhaus is barrier-free. In order to make the evening as pleasant as possible, we are happy to make arrangements in advance. Please contact Sophie Ollmann from the kulturmelange association: sophie.ollmann@kulturmelange.com (+43 664 73538026)
